Media Caching & Content Delivery

PeerApp’s patented UltraBand technology is the industry’s only multi-service, multi-protocol media caching solution. Utilizing cluster computing technology and industry standard hardware, the UltraBand provides high-speed caching in an efficient, compact and easily scalable solution that fits easily into operators’ networks. It also adapts easily to new services and applications as they become popular eliminating the need for separate application proxies or servers for each new protocol or service. UltraBand’s Cluster computing technology enables customers to cost-effectively scale from a single cache engine to 16 cache engines and up to 60 TB of storage in a high-performance storage area network (SAN). It is also remarkably efficient: it can manage and cache 20 Gbps of traffic using only 16 servers, versus the more than 100 servers required by competing systems. These capabilities give the UltraBand the smallest footprint and power consumption of any multi-service caching and content delivery solution on the market. The extensible UltraBand Content Delivery Architecture allows for the addition of new applications and services very quickly. All of PeerApp’s solutions simultaneously support multiple protocols, services, and applications, eliminating the need for point solutions. PeerApp offers the only solutions that can simultaneously support P2P, HTTP downloads, and HTTP video streams using the same servers and storage. In addition, the UltraBand technology that operates transparently for all applications. It operates as a Layer 2 network cache, does not have a public IP address visible to subscribers, HTTP services, P2P networks or third parties, and never operates as a “super-peer”. This ensures the anonymity of the service provider and guarantees legal compliance associated with the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act and various other international laws. This mode of caching also guarantees that the content served from cache is always up-to-date and available outside of the service provider network. |
